It was a little more than fifty years ago, and she made the first move, well, so I was told. Daphne quite liked the look of that young man, and was rather determined to go out with him.
It wasn't long before the two fell in love, got married and had children.
Del is an incredibly talented man. Before I even met him, I fell in love with his handy work! I pointed at the bench seat he had created "These are marvellous!" I exclaimed as he came out to meet me. "Oh, I don't know about that. I needed a seat, so I made a seat." He shrugged off my compliment as if everyone could just whip one of these things up. His children all attested to his amazing talent, and showed me carvings and all sorts of fantastic ideas he's had along the way.
The Jenkins family got together for their 50th anniversary and the gathering was large, and warm and there were a lot of laughs shared between a family that hadn't been all together for several years. Here are some photos of just a small slice of that family, the love they have for each other, and the FUN they have together!
Evan and Marie:
And their two children Corey and Tanya.
Gorgeous!
I love how these two interact!
Father and son:
Tanya and Franz. Loving the gorgeous light down at Karaka Point in Waikawa!
Corey and Gemma.

And just because it's about time I posted one of these again!
It was so lovely to see a family getting together and enjoying each other's company! Thanks so much for inviting me over for the morning!

The moment I met Suzanne and Glen I knew it was going to be good. Great looking people on a beautiful morning. Ohhh yeah.
I'm shooting their wedding next year, and so while they were in town this weekend, we decided to hook up, take some photos and get to know each other a bit. It didn't take long for them to relax and start working it!
I always try to bond with my couples, and find out what makes them tick and what we share in common. Glen is fully into softball, and Suzanne works in fashion. So sport and fashion are probably the areas I know least about in life, but when the conversation turned to types of liquorice, I was good as gold. How sad is that?
My tree. I love my tree. Suzanne knew of the tree from previous blog posts, and when we finally arrived there she said it was nothing like she thought it would be. Once I showed her what I was getting in the camera, she knew exactly where we were!
We worked really hard to try and find some NZ Flax, and make it work in a photo to go with the theme of their wedding. This is me teetering dangerously down a bank (sorry Mum, it wasn't really that dangerous!)
Suzanne just lights up a photo, she's so natural in front of the camera. Stunning!
And I'm loving this one of Glen. I insisted his Mum probably wanted a photo of him by himself for her wall. Pretty sure this one will get her smiling!
Love this!
Suzanne and Glen, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you both. I enjoyed our morning together immensely, and can't WAIT to shoot your wedding! Bring on 2011!

Milly is not quite two. But she's as smart as they come, full of sparkle and just OH so delicious!

Jeremy and Bec are her parents, and couldn't possibly adore her more. They absolutely dote on her, and you can see why!
We went to Pollard Park to get some photos now that the Autumn colours are starting to appear. I do so love Autumn!
Haven't done a legs shot for a little while!
Bec is due to have another darling next month, and even though these last few weeks in a pregnancy are always a bit hard going, she's looking absolutely amazing!

I'm pretty sure she could be a model for Pumpkin Patch or something.

Small girls always love swings, and Milly was certainly no exception!
Pure swing enthusiasm!
Thanks Jeremy and Bec, it was great fun spending time with you! Your little girl is certainly a credit to your great parenting! See you soon.

If ever I had to be adopted out to another family (which is rather unlikely I'm thinking), I think I might like to choose this one. It could be the cute American accents sucking me in again, but I think it's more the way that they really seem to adore each other.
This is Steve and Rachel:
And their two gorgeous kids, Grant and Chloe.

They're over here in New Zealand for six months while Steve helps us design some awesome plane (by 'us' I mean NZ, not necessarily me as such!) Only one month to go and they'll be leaving us again.
I promise you, you've never met friendlier kids. And I danced a little silent jig when I heard that they were homeschooling them while they are over here in New Zealand. Not because I'm embarrassed by our schools, but more so that I'm always so pleased to come across nice, well adjusted homeschooling kids - seeings we ourselves homeschool ours. They weren't wearing socks and sandals, or rocking in a corner or anything!
I'm pretty sure they're keen to get home in the US though, and back to their school and friends!
Total gorgeousness! Chloe knew how to work it.
Ya just gotta love this one as a Dad, don't you?
The roses are out right now at Pollard Park and looking so pretty.
I had so much fun with you guys, thanks for playing along! I can't wait to show you the rest!

In 2008 we photographed Anna and Tim's wedding. This week I got to photograph their brand new baby Brea. Only four days old! I can't even begin to tell you how little, and squishy and perfect she is. So I'll just show you!
The good thing about newborns is that you really can put them just about anywhere. They soon grow out of this though, which is a bit of a shame.
I gave Paul's Aunty Marion the job of creating some newborn props for me. And boy, did she ever! This lady can sure knit!
This is Brea's big brother Seth. Still as gorgeous as ever, and proud as punch of his gorgeous new sister.
How big are you Seth? "This big!" he says.
Isn't she just something else? Absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks so much Anna and Tim for letting me photograph your precious bundle so soon after she was born. It made all the difference doing it in those first few days! She's just perfect. Congratulations!

It was a good thing that I had my Weet-bix for breakfast yesterday, and that I took a healthy dose of spirulina for energy - because I was sure going to need it! The moment that Kaiser bounded out of the car and onto the beach we were all GO!

So full of energy and fun, Kaiser is sure fun to be around. There was a shark or a bear around every corner and he kept his newly adopted 'eagle' with him at all times (aka a stick).
His Mum Melissa absolutely adores him and as you can see, he's quite fond of her as well.
Spunky little man that he is!
We spent pretty much the whole time just playing. Running around the beach, climbing rocks and several rounds of hide and seek.
This was just after Melissa landed after jumping 'like a kangaroo', as requested.

Melissa and Kaiser, it was an absolute joy to spend a couple of hours playing with you! Can't wait to show you the rest of the photos!
Scarlett is ten months old and the yummiest thing you ever did see. She's short, a teeny bit squishy and full of toddlerisms. I doubt that toddlerism is actually a word (I'm fairly sure it's not, as my blog spellchecker is screaming at me right now!) but I think it should be, so I'm just going to go ahead and add it to my dictionary. There, now it's official.
Toddlerism: when a small squishy person does very immature things, like eat leaves or dribbles.
Liz and Fran are going to be in this Saturday's bridal party for Nicola and Vaughan. So it was awesome to get to know them a bit better, as well as making friends with Scarlett.
Could they be any cuter? I don't think so.
Scarlett is Nicola and Vaughan's goddaughter, as well as being the first grandchild on both sides of the family. So yes, she's number 1!
She seems to be developing a love for golf, just like her Dad and Granddad. Maybe next time we'll include the club and ball.
Ooooo baby fingers! Love them.
Although I am somewhat disgusted in how summer was this year, especially now that it's over, I am secretly pleased that Autumn is upon us. Prepare yourself for lots of autumn colours in the next couple of months.
I'm looking forward to shooting Fran and Liz again on Saturday.
And you can see why!
But today really belonged to this gorgeous little thing!
Thanks for coming out this morning guys! I can't wait to show you all the rest, see you at the wedding!!
