I know I have been promising these photos for a while, well here they finally are!  Unfortunately they've been right down the priority list, but I've scrounged some time tonight to pull these out and blog them.  Things have been so busy here in the Jones household, which is good, but it does mean that some things just get left at the bottom of the pile.

So usually, I'm behind the camera - and there's a very good reason for that.  I'm absolutely useless in front of it.  Pretty well everyone I photograph says the same thing, something about their ears or their nose or how they smile funny.  It's pretty well universal, people don't like to have their photo taken, but they do like having good photos of themselves.  So this mother's day just gone, definitely my favourite present was the time spent with my beautiful family, and the memories held in these photos!

And yes, they are all mine.  They're all so delicious - check out the really short one :)

I've actually got a photo of my mum and I, from 30 odd years ago - and it's so similar to this one.  Seems that Sophie has her thumb sucking style from her mummy :)

My men, doing their bit for the greater good of the family leaf pile.

Oh, you looking at me?

YOUR ALL-TIME #1 FAVOURITEST COUSIN - Wow, great pics! And so many leaves! I bet Paul had as much fun playing in them as the kids did...! :) (03 Jun 08 12:28pm)

I grabbed this shot today while we were at the park for the party, you just got to love reflections, don't you?

This was my daughter's piano recital tonight, not so many kids turned up this month.  I'm not surprised, because it is dark and freeeezing outside!

More of this week's photos will follow, its been another nuts-o week, but some delicious images....

It was my little man's 7th birthday today.  All my children are precious to me, but when Sammy has a birthday I have to shed a little tear.  Y'see he was born with a congential heart defect, Transposition of the Great Arteries, and had to have open heart surgery at 7 days old and spend a month in hospital.  He's got a clean bill of health now, but I'm well aware of the struggles he's been through and how extreamly blessed we are to have him with us.

After the surgery.... and chatting with daddy.

These days hanging out with Dad is a lot more fun...

HARSHA - Dear Jessica, My husband and myself were overwhelmed reading about your struggle. I am 27 weeks pregnant with a baby girl with TGA. Though it is tough to go through all this your experience has given us hope and trust that everything will work out fine for our baby as well. Thanks for sharing it.. very much appreciated. - Harsha & Sreekumar (27 Feb 11 11:35pm)
PATTI - I enjoyed reading your story, I just found out this past week that my baby boy has TGA and I found that reading your story helped me alot! All I can do is cry and ask god why this is happening to our baby boy? I just feel sad all of the time and knowing what is up ahead for us and that our 2 yr old son now has been looking forward to his new brother coming into world and I know he is not going to understand that we can't bring him straight home when he is born. I know the worst part is having him and knowing that as soon as he is born he will be whisked off, it will feel like forever but hopefully after the surgery he will be a normal active boy just like your's. I am so glad he is doing well, I hope you and your family have a happy holiday and many more to come. (18 Dec 09 3:30pm)
ALLANA - Hi there, Thank-you for your story. OUr lovely Isabella was born with TGA. We are home now afer a sucessful surgery and she is just perfect. Comforting to read other stories. Beautiful pictures. All the best Kind Regards Allana (07 Apr 09 10:31pm)
LEANNE COLE - i am pregnant and have found out that my baby boy has TGA it was very comforting reading what you went through and how you all coped and is good to know what to expect for the next couple of months. thank you (21 Jan 09 11:57am)
ANNA GILBERT - Jessica, Every now and then I search for info online about how people with this condition are doing. You see, I was born with the transposition back in '82 and had surgery when I was a year old. I am now 26 and still very active and healthy; I have been extremely fortunte with my health. I'm always looking to find more people with this condition older than myself so to have some idea of what's to come in the future. Since open heart surgery wasn't commonly available for a long time before I had my surgery, I consider myself one of the "test units" lol. I just wanted to give you some extra hope and assurance for your son, as I have been able to lead a very normal and fulfilling life, I'm sure he will be able to. God bless. Anna Gilbert Bowdoinham, ME, USA (12 Jan 09 3:00pm)
GRETCHEN MCHUGH - Dear Jessica, These photos are just beautiful. I've stumbled upon your website after coming home from my son, Evan's, yearly check-up with his cardiologist. Although he'll be 17 on Febreuary 2,2009, those memories are forever burnished in my memory. Your story brought back so many memories, and is so similar to ours; we too have three older girls who were 5,3 and almost 2 years when their baby brother was born. Now, believe it or not they are almost 23,20 and soon to be 19 years old! Evan is doing well and plays soccer for his high school, as well as track and basketball. We are so fortunate to have had this surgery in our boys' lifetimes. Take care, and may God bless you all in the new year. Sincerely, Gretchen McHugh Whitman, MA, USA (08 Jan 09 7:19am)

I had the most delicious Mother's Day yesterday.  We took the kids to the park, had a nice play in the Autumn leaves and got some fantastic pictures.  Now, if you know me, I despise having my photo taken, it makes me break out into a sweat and pull this funny weirdo face.  I'm built to be behind the camera, not in front!  Having said that though, we got some really nice pictures of me with my short people.  Probably the best present of the day!!  (chocolate being a very close second, you can never go wrong with chocolate)

I'll upload some of the pics when Paul can stop on the editing computer long enough for me to get it done :)

Ok, thanks for the condolence letters streaming in but you can all stop panicking now - I have found my keys.  They were in the garage door.... sigh.  The good news is that no one stole our lawnmower, or maybe they did, and tried to start it, failed, and quickly returned it.  Because, if you're going to steal something, a crusty old lawnmower with the words 'easy start' that doesn't start easy at all, is not the thing to steal.

Please note: the wiggles are still lost.

I've lost my keys, and it's reeeeeeally annoying.  I has to be somewhere in the house, it's probably hiding with the 'Wiggles' dvd which has also disappeared.  I've told the kids they'll get a chocolate if they find it, but even frantic searching has produced no Wiggles and no keys.

It's always in the last place you look too, which, when you think about it makes sense - because what fool keeps looking after they've found it?

So we have this friendly rivalry going on, Paul and I.  In some ways it's fun, and keep us on our toes, but in another way it keeps us up late at night editing and reediting a photo, just to be sure that our version is the best!  We'll come back from a job, download and compare shots and see who got the best shot of the day.  (right now we're about 50/50)

He's happy to let me have the 'name', and he'll just keep on plugging away for days working on a wedding, while I carry on with raising our beautiful brood, answering emails and chatting away on the phone.  It's a nice little arrangement I reckon.... but he better not get any bright ideas about starting up 'Paul Jones Photography', or I'm in big, big trouble!
