Casey and Joshua – Married in Whanganui

Casey’s friend, Gabby,  knew something was up when Casey was more interested in hanging out with Joshua than watching the bands they came to see at Festival One. Suddenly, it seemed, Casey’s old friend from back in their school days was becoming a little more than just a friend. As the months passed, their friendship grew even more, and Josh decided to move to a town a little closer to Casey. Then, just last week, Joshua and Casey became husband and wife. It was actually a pretty epic day, and we got to be there to help celebrate and record some pretty awesome moments.

Both Casey and Josh come from big, busy families. Having created a big and busy family myself, I felt very much at home, and I was pretty excited about the vibe in general. I knew that I wanted to get to the heart of what this day was all about; Love, family and celebration. And little kids. There were a LOT of amazing little kid moments.

Everything was about family, even the little chapel in Whanganui which was surrounded by the retirement village that Casey’s grandad was in, was absolutely perfect.

I don’t know what a dad must be thinking as he walks his daughter down the aisle. But I can remember going to Casey’s parents wedding 25 years ago, Casey’s Dad Vaughan is Paul’s cousin. Paul and I were only just engaged ourselves, and now to be here all these years later, watching their baby get married is a little bit trippy to be honest.

Because some families just need a photo that looks like this, don’t you think?

I’ve never photographed a wedding in Whanganui before, so when we went out scouting the day before, I just about had kittens when I saw this wall.

And this one…

Casey’s Grandma made these quilts especially for Casey and Josh, and what better time to enjoy them than at the beach at sunset on your wedding day. This, right here, is winning.
